Weight, battery, folded size and UK legality for seven folding e-bikes sold on Amazon UK, on one page. Start with the two charts, then dig into the full table.
At a glance
Weight: how heavy is it to carry?
Lighter is better if you carry the bike up stairs or onto trains. Scale 0–32 kg.
Stated weightListing gives more than one figureNot stated
Battery size: the best guide to real range
Watt-hours (Wh) = volts × amp-hours. A bigger battery goes further than any headline range claim suggests. Scale 0–650Wh.
SAMEBIKE: the brand images say 48V 15Ah (720Wh); the bullets and table say 36V 12Ah (≈432Wh), shown here.

Folding e-bike comparison: common questions
Which folding electric bike is the lightest?
The ADO Air 20, at about 17.5–18.9 kg depending on the source. That is 7–12 kg lighter than every other bike here with a published weight. The Finbike U4 (26.5 kg) and HillMiles MilePort 1 (28.5 kg) come next. ENGWE doesn’t publish a weight for the EP-2 Boost, and URLIFE’s listing gives three different figures.
Which of these folding e-bikes are road legal in the UK?
On paper, the ENGWE EP-2 Boost and the ADO Air 20: both are 250W, limited to 15.5 mph, with no throttle listed. The VARUN and Finbike need checking with the seller. The SAMEBIKE lists 560W, and URLIFE and HillMiles buyers report throttles above walking pace, which would make them illegal on UK roads as reported.
Which has the longest real-world range?
The ENGWE and VARUN have the biggest batteries (624Wh). The best buyer-reported figure is about 41 miles (66 km) on the ENGWE; one VARUN buyer got about 28 miles (45 km). Headline claims of 60–75 miles assume a light rider on flat roads in the lowest assist level, so plan on roughly half of the claim.
Which folding e-bike fits in a small car boot?
The URLIFE F1L folds smallest, at about 75 cm long on 14-inch wheels, followed by the Finbike U4 at about 82 × 69 cm. The ADO Air 20 doesn’t publish its folded size, but at about 18 kg it is by far the easiest to lift in. Measure your boot and compare it with the folded sizes in the table above.
Which is best for heavier riders?
The VARUN S20-2 Pro and SAMEBIKE CY20 both list a 150 kg maximum load. Most of the others list 120 kg, and ENGWE doesn’t state one. Remember that the load limit includes you, your bag and anything on the rack. A heavier load also cuts real-world range.
Fat tyres or normal tyres: which should I choose?
Fat tyres (4.0 inches on the ENGWE and VARUN, 3.0 on the HillMiles) cushion potholes, gravel and towpaths and feel stable, but they add weight and bulk. Narrower tyres, like the ADO’s 1.95 inches, roll faster and keep the bike light enough to carry. Ride from your door? Go fat. Carry it daily? Go narrow.
Before you buy any of these bikes: get it in writing
Our scores come from Amazon listings and buyer reports, not hands-on tests, and listings change. Before you pay, ask the seller to confirm in writing:
- The exact weight with the battery, and the folded size in cm
- That the motor is 250W continuous and assistance stops at 15.5 mph
- That there is no throttle that moves the bike above walking pace without pedalling
- What comes in the box (charger with a UK plug, mudguards, rack, tools) and the warranty terms
Use Amazon’s own messaging (the “Ask a question” button on the seller’s page) so the answer is saved in your account. If the bike doesn’t match what was confirmed, you have proof for a return. See our recommendation notice.

How we compare: every figure comes from the bike’s Amazon UK listing and verified-purchase reviews, checked in October 2026. We don’t test bikes in person. UK legality is checked against the GB rules for electrically assisted pedal cycles on GOV.UK. This is general information, not legal advice. Spotted an error?
